Privacy Policy
HOMAKASE operates a private chef marketplace that helps guests book at-home dining experiences with independent chefs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to users.
Information we collect
We may collect account information such as name, email address, phone number, profile photo, city, login details, and support communications. For bookings, we may collect dinner date, time, guest count, address, dietary restrictions, special notes, messages, order status, reviews, cancellation details, and refund information.
Chef users may provide profile details, menu information, photos, videos, identity or verification documents, business details, payout status, and Stripe Connect onboarding information.
Payments and payouts
Payments, saved payment methods, refunds, and chef payouts are processed by Stripe. HOMAKASE does not store full credit card numbers or bank account numbers. Stripe may collect payment, identity, tax, risk, and payout information under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.
How we use information
We use information to create and manage accounts, process bookings, verify users and chefs, support payments and refunds, send service notifications, enable in-app messaging, provide support, prevent fraud, enforce our terms, improve the service, and comply with legal obligations.
Sharing of information
We share booking details with the guest and chef involved in a reservation. For example, a chef may see the guest's name, booking date, guest count, dinner address, dietary restrictions, and booking notes needed to provide the service. Guests may see chef profile, menu, media, verification status, ratings, and limited public reviews.
We may also share information with service providers such as hosting, database, payment, push notification, analytics, fraud prevention, email, legal, accounting, or customer support providers.
Reviews
Reviews may be displayed publicly on chef profiles after a completed booking. Public reviews are limited to rating, review text, date, and a generic guest label. We do not publicly display guest addresses, phone numbers, payment details, or private messages.
Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, process refunds, comply with legal obligations, and maintain business records.
Your choices
You may update account information in the app, manage notification permissions through your device settings, and contact us to request help with account access, deletion, or privacy questions.
Children
HOMAKASE is not intended for children under 13. Users must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement and use payment services.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
