Cancellation and Refund Policy

This policy explains how cancellations, refunds, credits, and chef cancellation penalties work for HOMAKASE bookings.

Guest cancellation policy

If a guest cancels more than 24 hours before the scheduled dinner time, the guest is eligible for a full refund.

If a guest cancels within 12 to 24 hours before the scheduled dinner time, the guest is eligible for a 50% refund. For this cancellation window, the chef may retain 35% of the booking amount and HOMAKASE may retain 15% as the platform portion.

If a guest cancels within 12 hours before the scheduled dinner time, the booking is not refundable.

Chef cancellation policy

If a chef cancels more than 24 hours before the scheduled dinner time, the guest is eligible for a full refund.

If a chef cancels within 24 hours before the scheduled dinner time, the guest is eligible for a full refund. HOMAKASE may also issue the guest a $25 to $50 credit, reduce the chef's trust score, and charge or deduct the credit amount from the chef where permitted.

Credits

Guest credits issued by HOMAKASE expire 14 days after issuance unless a different expiration date is stated in writing. Credits are promotional, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash except where required by law.

Refund method and timing

Refunds are generally returned to the original payment method through Stripe. Bank and card processing times may vary. HOMAKASE does not control delays caused by Stripe, card networks, banks, fraud review, or payment disputes.

Payment processor fees

Stripe or other payment processor fees may apply to payments, refunds, disputes, or chargebacks. Where allowed by law and platform policy, those fees may be accounted for in payout, refund, or platform fee calculations.

No-shows and access issues

A booking may be treated as non-refundable if the chef arrives at the agreed location but cannot access the premises, the guest is unavailable, the address is materially incorrect, or conditions are unsafe.

Safety and policy exceptions

HOMAKASE may make exceptions for emergencies, safety issues, fraud, severe weather, legal requirements, payment disputes, or other circumstances at our discretion.
